A weekend to learn new music from a leading guest conductor, leading to a concert at the close.
The guest conductor is Duncan Stubbs OBE, a former principal director of music for the Royal Air Force. He wrote and conducted the wedding fanfare for the wedding of the Prince and Princess of Wales. Wind, brass and percussion players of grade three standard or above are welcome to take part in the weekend free of charge. They will enjoy working on a wide variety of wind band music by composers such as Philip Sparke, Peter Graham and Malcolm Arnold. Session times are Friday 24th October 7pm-9pm; Saturday 25th October 10am-4pm; Sunday 26th October 10am-1pm. An informal concert will then be held at 2pm, bringing all the music together, and this is open to everyone and is free, although there will be a leaving collection.
