Passengers up, profits down at Flybe

Airline Flybe, which operates flights to Birmingham, Liverpool and Manchester from the Isle of Man, says it's seen its profits drop over the last six months.

The company says although its revenues were up, profits after tax fell by 12 per cent to £13.4 million in the first half of this year.

In a statement, Flybe says it's cutting the number of aircraft it operates and will focus on more profitable routes.

And it adds despite the fall in profits, it's carried more passengers - 5.2 million people so far this year compared to 4.8 million last year.
