Slight rise in inflation during January

Latest figures from the government shows inflation stood at 2.5 per cent at the end of January.

That represents an increase of 0.1 per cent on December's figure.

The report, released by the Cabinet Office, shows preschool fees were one of the biggest risers at 9.7 per cent, along with rent which went up a massive 19 per cent.

There is some good news though - sticking plasters went down by 12 per cent, along with gas prices which saw a decrease of 18.2 per cent.
