Two Douglas developments offered support from government fund

Proposals to redevelop two stagnant city centre sites have been offered funding from a government infrastructure scheme.

Planning permission's already been granted for nine apartments, one townhouse and four commercial units at North Quay.

Meanwhile, the long-stalled project on Duke Street involves 38 serviced apartments along with a new retail space - it's currently going through the planning process.

Enterprise Minister Tim Johnston says the Island Infrastructure Scheme is designed to encourage investment in empty brownfield sites, by providing up to a quarter of costs to developers.
