The government says just one in three people has a private, occupational or workplace pension.
Douglas Central MHK Chris Thomas put a question for written reply to Treasury Minister Alex Allinson about the figures.
Dr Allinson said 33 per cent had claimed tax relief for such pensions in 2023, the last year data was available for.
He added almost 38 per cent of women and 30 per cent of men had declared payments into pensions in their tax returns.
