1,000 pensioners affected by MiCard withdrawal

Fewer than 3,000 people will be affected by plans to stop paying benefits and pensions in cash.

The Cabinet Office gave the figure in response to a Freedom of Information request from the Isle of Man Womens' Institute.

The organisation wanted to know how many people would be affected by the planned withdrawal of the MiCard system.

In its response, the Cabinet Office said there were fewer than 3,000 users, with around 1,000 pensioners.
