20 week works on Victoria Street begin

Works to replace a pedestrian crossing in the Island's capital - which will take around 20 weeks - have officially begun.

According to the Department of Infrastructure - works on Victoria Street began yesterday.

The works will replace an existing with a new crossing - to 'enhance accessibility' and act as a 'traffic calming measure' through - according to the DOI - one of the 'busiest areas of Douglas town centre'.

The Department says pedestrian access to all premises, alongside businesses 'operating as normal' will be maintained.

Throughout the works - the bus stop and taxi rank will be temporarily moved to the lower end of Victoria Street.
