Burnham Confirmed Reprieve in Letter to Chief Minister
3FM are now in possession of the personal letter sent from Health Secretary Andy Burnham to Chief Minister Tony Brown confirming the Reciprocal Health Agreement turnaround.
The letter sent by Burnham confirmed that following on from a conversation with the Chief Minister he had decided that the best step forward would be to defer the termination of the Agreement for another 6 months.
In the next 6 months a more permanent arrangement will be brokered between the two governments.
The letter also announced that the UK would be withdrawing their annual financial allocation of £2.8 million, which in the past paid for elective medical treatments, the DHSS must now shoulder that cost.
Through the letter Burnham publicly thanked all of those who lobbied for the change around and said he feels the new measure best represents value for money for the taxpayer.
