50% of secondary pupils now vaccinated

Around half of all secondary school pupils on the Isle of Man have now been double-vaccinated.

The statistics were discussed in Tynwald yesterday during questions around the extent of mask wearing in secondary schools.

The education minister said fewer pupils - around 10% - are choosing to wear masks, compared to around 20% last month.

It comes after the Isle of Man extended its vaccination rollout to youngsters between the ages of 12 and 17.

Of the the 6,700 people in this age group eligible to have the vaccine, more than 3,300 have now had at least one dose, while over 1,000 have had two.
