    £60,000 loss - but DOI will run trams next year

    The Department of Infrastructure lost £60,000 running Douglas horse trams last year - but saw a rise of more than 50 per cent in passengers.

    Minister Ray Harmer gave the figures in Tynwald this week, in response to a question from Garff MHK Daphne Caine.

    He said the trams had brought in an extra £26,000 this year, earning £83,500 in total from 68,500 passengers.

    And Mr Harmer said his department would continue running the historic services - at least for another two years:
