    £750,000 wanted for new kitchen and dining room

    Is spending £750,000 on a new kitchen and dining room at QEII High School a good use of taxpayers' money?

    That's what politicians will decide in Tynwald this week when the Department of Education and Children puts its case forward. 
     
    Estates director Richard Collister says the plans would cater for almost double the amount of students:
     
     
    The department says the work is needed to offer students a greater choice of healthy meals in a less rushed environment and provide more space for students to socialise.
     
    £78,000 has already been spent on the works - Richard admits it's a project that, if approved, won't be cheap:
