The government's submitted a planning application for a temporary access road to reduce disruption while the Balthane roundabout is built.
It would connect the Ballasalla Bypass with Ballahick Road, so traffic can still get to the Balthane Industrial Estate during construction.
The Department of Infrastructure says the road would also mean work on the roundabout can be completed sooner.
The whole project is predicted to take around six to eight months.
