Schools in England have been accused of wrongly identifying thousands of children as having special needs, to cover up poor teaching.
An OFSTED report has shown that up to half a million children are wrongly classed with special needs.
3FM can reveal that on the Isle of Man almost 1 in 5 children are identified as special education needs.
Government figures show it to be 16% of all primary students and 17% of secondary pupils at total of 2371 children.
We spoke to mum Christine, her teenage son was wrongly diagnosed when he started primary school on the Island.
She said 'I was told my son had special needs when he was at primary school. Turned out that it was just down to bad teaching at his previous school. Now he is in yr 10 and thriving. Children are too easily labelled these days.' (audio above).
