    Anti-abortion campaigners plan Douglas march

Anti-abortion campaigners led by a UK charity will be gathering in Douglas this weekend.

Life, which is based in Leamington Spa, says on its website it won't give up 'until abortion is a thing of the past'.

On Sunday, protestors against a campaign to update the Island's abortion laws will meet at the Bottleneck Car Park at 3pm.

From there, they'll walk along Douglas Promenade to Derby Castle.

The UK-registered charity, which is backing the Humanity and Equality in Abortion Reform campaign against change, is publicising the march on Facebook.

It describes the event as a celebration of life from conception to death and says it wants to bring together people of all ages and abilities.

Previously, members of the Grace Baptist Church held a protest in Douglas Town Centre to publicise their opposition to modernising abortion law.

Ramsey MHK Dr Alex Allinson won permission from Tynwald to introduce a private members bill which aims to look at the 22 year old legislation governing terminations.
