    Arts Council head backs culture centre suggestion

    The head of the Island's arts body has backed calls for a national cultural centre - and says it's something his organisation is working on.

    Geoff Corkish, chairman of the Isle of Man Arts Council, was in Tynwald last week when Garff MHK Daphne Caine suggested a national arts facility was needed.

    She said often, arts are the 'poor relation' to sports funding and that more investment in culture was needed.

    Mr Corkish says the Arts Council is hopeful such an objective could be achieved in future:
