Assisted dying bill takes a step closer to becoming law

The Island's assisted dying legislation has taken a step closer to becoming law.

Legislative Council passed the final stage of the Assisted Dying Bill earlier today, with six minor amendments to wording.

If the amendments are agreed by the House of Keys, the bill needs to be signed before being sent off for Royal Assent.

And the law would need to be promulgated on Tynwald Hill in St Johns within 18 months of being given the royal stamp of approval.
