    Assisted Dying consultation splits opinion

The public consultation on Assisted Dying had an almost even split of opinion as to whether it should be permitted.

Out of 3,326 total responses, 49.01% agree that assisted dying for terminally ill adults should be allowed on the Isle of Man, and 49.61% disagree.

The remaining 1.38% were either not sure or didn't answer the question.

Over 2,700 people then went on to explain the reasons for their opinion and often related to personal experiences.

Those who agreed with Assisted Dying cited peoples' individual rights and the need for autonomy and choice.

Further, a range of ethical, religious and moral reasons were given by those who disagreed.
