Treasury Minister Alex Allinson says immigration has been all but overwhelmed after a huge jump in the number of visa applications since Brexit.
This week in Tynwald, he was asked what was being done to help immigration applicants amid a backlog in cases.
Dr Allinson said there were five times more visa applications than before Brexit and this rise had created problems.
But he said extra staff had now been taken on to tackle the problems:
