Infrastructure Minister Tim Baker insists there was nothing wrong with the concept of a red-and-black zebra crossing in Kirk Michael.

Located on the TT course, it was designed to give riders more grip as they accelerated on the road.

The road markings have since been re-painted in traditional black-and-white style.

Mr Baker said the problems were with the implementation.

Tim Baker is standing for the House of Keys General Election in the constituency of Ayre and Michael.

The other candidates standing are Dr Sosthene Boussougou, Alf Cannan, Phil Corkill, Tim Johnston, Duncan Livingstone, Paul Weatherall and Madeleine Westall.
