Local businesses have been urged to check new legislation before burning any waste on Bonfire Night.
The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture says in previous years November 5th has been seen as an opportunity to get rid of potentially harmful waste.
Uncontrolled burning of waste can produce smoke and toxins which can pollute the environment and be hazardous to the health of the public.
Environment protection manager Phil Styles from the department says it’s not a case of being killjoys:
