All Isle of Man residents aged between 60 and 69 years old will receive a test kit by post over the next two years and they need to follow the instructions. Samples are then sent to the UK for screening.
About 25 people die from bowel cancer every year in the Isle of Man, the screening can lead to early detection and increased survival rates.
It's hoped that this programme could save up to four to five lives a year.
