    Buddhist plans for Douglas warehouse

The Island could be getting its second Buddhist place of worship, just months after the first opened in Baldrine.

Sommai Nantakoon has applied to transform the former Ultimate Cleaning Services warehouse on Princes Street in Douglas into a religious centre with its own accommodation.

In her application, she says Buddhist spiritual leaders traditionally eat and sleep at their place of worship and so the proposals include residential space.

She says up to 50 people a day would use the facility between 9am and early evening.
