Businesses are being urged to come forward to help empower young people to learn new skills.
It comes as Douglas Mayor Natalie Byron-Teare met students participating in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme at Ballakermeen High School.
She's now encouraging businesses to assist students with placements in the new year as they look for volunteering opportunities.
Mrs Byron-Teare says companies can get in touch with the youth service which runs the scheme on the Island to provide openings.
At any one time around 800 local young people can be working towards the awards.
