Call for public to ensure they have clear drains, gutters and grids

The emergency services were inundated with calls throughout the night after the heavy rainfall caused multiple flooding incidents along the east of the Island.

Some roads were made impassable by the flooding, with manhole covers dislodged by the flood water in some incidents.

Fire crews worked alongside the Police, Civil Defence, Douglas Corporation and DOI teams to deal with the flooding and ensure public safety.

A call has gone out to the public to ensure they have clear drains, gutters and grids so rain water can flow freely away.

The flooding was brought under control shortly after 10.30pm.
