Tynwald has approved a six per cent hike in car tax - the first rise in two years.
However, members voted to freeze the cost of taxing medium and heavy goods vehicles.
There's also good news for electric vehicle owners, as they won't pay any road tax until at least 2020.
As well as that there's also an exemption for non-emergency ambulances run by Island charities and other organisations.
