Mark Cavendish has said he is confident his new team set up can help him repeat his success in 2011 and claim the Green Jersey in this year’s Tour de France.
Last year Cavendish was riding for Team Sky, with that set up geared toward securing the yellow jersey for Bradley Wiggins, which they achieved.
It meant the Manxman took more of a back seat role, despite still securing stage wins.
This time round however his Pharma-Omega Quickstep team are devoted to his service, as evidenced in the recent Giro D’Italia where Cav finished top of the points board.
Joe Crilly from bookmakers William Hill said Cavendish is second favourite to take the jersey, with the Slovak prodigy Peter Sagan odds on favourite:
