Changes to detainees' care already made say police

Police say changes have been made to how people are detained when they’re suspected of concealing drugs internally.

It follows the conclusion of the inquest into the death of Steven Corkill – he died whilst in police custody at Noble’s Hospital in June last year.

The Isle of Man Constabulary says it will now consider the comments made by the Coroner of Inquests and act upon his recommendations at the ‘earliest opportunity’.

It says ‘processes and procedures’ are continually reviewed in line with professional standards and best practice and has offered its condolences to Mr Corkill’s family and friends.
