Changes could be made to make the Manx work permit system more modern.
The Department of Economic Development says the alterations include better controls on those with criminal convictions and a sharp increase in financial penalties.
The Control of Employment Bill entered the House of Keys for its first reading earlier this week - it’ll be discussed further in January.
