    Changes to the most senior Civil Service role

    The most senior role in the Civil Service is to change following a review.

    The government will now look to recruit a Chief Executive Officer and see an end to the role of Chief Secretary. 

    Chief Minister Alfred Cannan announced a review into the role and responsibilities of the Chief Secretary in the May sitting of Tynwald.

    The Chief Executive Officer will 'pro-actively lead and support chief officers in government departments.'

    If Tynwald agree to the changes at the January sitting, recruitment will begin immediately.
