Proposed changes by UCAS could have a major effect on Manx students applying for university in the UK.
That's the opinion of one of the key figures in secondary education in the Isle of Man.
Co-ordinating advisor for 11-19 education Paul Craine agrees changes do need to be made to the current university application system - but they would need to work for both students and universities (see audio).
Earlier this week UCAS said it wanted to introduce a new system whereby students applied to university after receiving their A-Level results.
This would mean either year 13 students sitting their A-Level exams much earlier, or undergraduates starting their first year a semester later.
The applications body also wants to see predicated grades and the clearing system scrapped.
