Charity: "Observe restrictions after bird flu case"

The MSPCA is asking people not to take birds to Ard Jerkyll after the government discovered an outbreak of bird flu in the west of the Island.

Yesterday, a 3km restriction zone was declared around a site in Patrick after vets confirmed a case of H5N1 avian influenza.

The animal charity says if you find an injured or sick bird you should call it, Manx Wild Bird Aid or a vet for advice.

But it adds you shouldn't take birds to the sanctuary without calling first.
