To Promote The Island
Ahead of the UK general election Chief Minister Tony Brown and Treasury Minister Allan Bell have met with the Tory leader to promote awareness of the Isle of Man.
Members of the shadow cabinet were also at the meeting in Brighton. It's thought to have provided a valuable insight to ministers here, about the Conservative's policies should they be elected to form the next UK Government.
The Chief Minister said it was an excellent opportunity to brief some of the UK’s leading politicians on the Isle of Man’s constitutional position as a Crown Dependency and how the Island’s role as an international business centre supports the British economy. Tony Brown also told them of concerns over such issues as the change in the VAT sharing arrangements and the ending of the Reciprocal Health Agreement.
