The Chief Minister has said lessons must be learned from the issues currently impacting the Steam Packet service.
The adverse weather has only seen minor let up since it took hold earlier in the month leading to numerous cancellations.
The Chief Minister met with the Steam Packet Chief Executive to hear how they intend to maintain services throughout the busy Christmas period.
He used the opportunity to impress the importance of this time of year for local retail businesses, encouraging the Steam Packet to keep up communication with the public.
Speaking to 3FM Allan Bell said the situation is the result of a rare convergence of circumstances.
