The Chief Minister has issued a New Year message to Island residents.
Chief Minister Tony Brown says that we are face a testing journey ahead.
Last year saw the revision of the VAT sharing agreement with the UK changed meaning the Island lost out on tens of millions of pounds a year.
The Government was also restructured creating the Department of Economic Development which aims to generate more business in to the Island.
Chief Minister said "Looking ahead into 2011 I can make no promises that the road before us will get any easier, but I know that our community has the strength, skill and resources to keep moving forward. Government for its part will continue to work in the national interest of the Isle of Man as a whole, considering the longer term as well as the short term, so that we can secure the future for all the people of this Island.''
