The Chief Minister says it would be in the interests of all Tynwald members to have a "clear policy" on criminal record checks.
Howard Quayle was tackled on the issue in the House of Keys yesterday by Douglas East MHK Clare Bettison.
She wanted to know what consideration had been given to introducing DBS checks - the Disclosure and Barring Service has replaced the former CRB check.
Currently individual government departments have responsibility for managing the issue as they see fit.
However Mr Quayle says the Island is likely to take the lead from the UK after the issue was raised there:
Number of MiCard users falling
Island businesses targeted in phishing campaign
Manx Care's highest-paid worker earned £451k
Dates announced for new format of cycling event
Minister can't say about specifics of bail breaches
Government income from nursing care placements rises
Tyson Fury's move to Island confirmed
Students invited to apply for paid summer placements
