Comic apologises for 'homophobic island' slur

An English comedian has apologised after calling Isle of Man residents homophobic on social media.

After Donald Trump won the US election yesterday, Rufus Hound from ITV's Celebrity Juice took to Twitter to ask if he could colonise the Island - and whether its homophobic residents would leave.

However, other users were quick to point out the Isle of Man's had an openly gay leader and has far more liberal gay marriage laws than the UK.

And half an hour later, the London comic apologised, saying "I completely retract my previous statement".
