A pair of farmers who executed two dogs they found worrying livestock on their land have been handed a conditional discharge.
31-year-old Jeffrey Fargher and 28-year-old Daniel Creer were each found guilty of two counts of destroying property after standing trial on Monday.
A jury at Douglas Courthouse ruled they'd illegally killed the dogs on April 13th after finding the Newfoundland and Weimaraner on land at Ballavitchel Farm in Crosby.
The dogs - which belonged to Greeba man Neil Cheetham - had killed more than 60 animals; he later pleaded guilty to being the keeper of animals which were worrying livestock.
The jury heard the two men - who are from Ballasalla and Crosby respectively - had brought the canines fully under control before shooting them; they both suffered severe head trauma.
Sentencing the pair Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes handed them a two year conditional discharge and ordered them to pay costs of £1,000 each.
