    Councillor calls for national rate

    A member of Douglas Borough Council has said it's time to consider an all-Island local authority rate.

    John Faragher was commenting after the council was forced to reassess its budget following changes to local waste responsibility.

    It's understood this will cost Douglas Council almost £300,000 a year extra.

    The former Onchan Commissioner said all local authorities needed to consider their long-term rate plans and see if a national charge could
