A Peel man will be sentenced in January after grabbing his girlfriend around the throat and obstructing her breathing.
47-year-old Paul Anthony Oates, of Westview, lashed out at the woman after getting into bed on December 9.
Police were called to the property the couple shared on Drury Terrace in Douglas just after 7am.
Oates hit her in the face, yanked her head back and pulled her hair - leaving her with split and swollen lips.
At Douglas Courthouse last week Oates admitted assaulting her and causing actual bodily harm.
A social enquiry report has been requested before he's sentenced on February 7 - he's been bailed until that date.
