Covid: School assemblies suspended

All internal school gatherings, including assemblies, are suspended for the time being.

Children are returning to schools on the Isle of Man this morning- with all internal gatherings, including assemblies, suspended for the time being.

The restrictions have been put in place as Covid infections continue to rise on the island.

The education department said the measures being taken are proportionate although contingency planning is ongoing.

The Manx government said classrooms will be "as ventilated as possible" while all secondary pupils and UCM students are expected to wear masks and wash hands regularly.
