A section of a busy highway in St Johns will close today for nearly a month.
Curragh Road between the Western Civic Amenity Site and the Ballacraine junction will be cordoned off from today (October 12) until Wednesday, November 4, at the latest whilst new traffic lights are installed at Ballacraine.
The DOI says the current lights have reached the end of their useful life.
People living within the closure will still have vehicle access into it and pedestrian walkways will remain open as normal.
For southbound traffic and scheduled bus services heading in that direction, a diversion will be in place via Station Road which will have parking restrictions during the works marked out with 'no waiting' cones.
The Western Civic Amenity Site will remain open as normal throughout the initiative, people will be able to reach it from The Hope end of the street.
