    Damage to ancient monuments sparks education call

    Someone imprinted their body onto the ancient stones

    A spate of 'wilful criminal damage' to Manx National Heritage sites has prompted renewed efforts to protect the areas. 

    Two ancient standing stones in Maughold were 'defaced' and a fire pit and litter were left at a Keeil site. 
     
    PC Louise Kennaugh says she thinks people don't realise the significance of their actions:
     
     
    Anyone caught defacing or injuring Manx historic monuments can face imprisonment or a fine up to £5,000 under the Manx Museum and National Trust Act of 1959.
