First Deemster Passes Away Aged 62
Deemster Michael Kerruish has passed away after fighting a lengthy battle with illness.
His Honour Deemster Michael Kerruish had spent a lengthy spell in the Hospice, he lost his battle with cancer last night aged 62.
He was appointed Attorney General back in 1993, a position he held until 1998 when he became Second Deemster.
From 2003 he’d served as the Island’s First Deemster and Clerk of the Rolls presiding as Chief Judge of the Island’s High Court of Justice.
The Cheif Minister said as Attorney General, Second Deemster and then First Deemster, His Honour served the Isle of Man with great distinction, fairness and clarity of purpose, with a robust enthusiasm for the law and, most importantly, for the community.
His death was described by Vice Admiral Sir Paul Haddacks as a major loss for the Isle of Man.
