The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture is asking dog owners to be mindful when walking through plantations.
Across many of the Island's plantations, glens and amenity sites there are newly planted trees in protective tree shelters.
DEFA says dogs may mistake these for toys or chews, but they're vital to the survival of the trees and important they remain in place to protect them.
The department is kindly asking dog owners to be mindful when walking through these areas.
