Demolition work will begin on one of the Island’s longest serving primary school’s next week.

Albert Road School in Ramsey will be knocked down after serving the town for 103 years; it was vacated in 2008 and has lay dormant ever since.

As a consequence the section of Albert Road between Tower Street and Christian Street in Ramsey will be closed off to pedestrian and vehicle traffic while the works take place.

There will be an alternative route via Parsonage and Queen’s Pier Road.

It’s anticipated that a car park will initially fill the large space, but plans to build affordable housing have also been considered.

It’s anticipated that the work will continue until May 1st.
