Department Of Education And Children Identify Losses When Hiring Out DEC Buildings

DEC Propose Changes To Existing System In An Effort To Plug The Deficit

Whilst reviewing their outgoings the Department of Education and Children have identified that significant losses are being incurred in the way they let out buildings for after-hours clubs and activities.

Currently the lettings bring in £89,800 each year, but cost the Department £121,600 leading to a net loss of £31,800.

55 buildings in total are let out with the loss brought about by staffing costs for the buildings when they are in use.

They are now reviewing ways to remedy this problem and maximise the use of the buildings.

The main aim is to train the staff who will be present at the sessions to take on the responsibility of being the key holders, so additional people are not required to cover that task.

This approach will lead to a major reduction in costs and ensure the future of the various clubs and activities.
