    Disaster witness opposes sale of tragic site

    The public are being urged to get behind a new campaign to stop the sale of the former Summerland site.

    Today marks 40 years since a fire destroyed the leisure complex killing 50 people including 11 who were under the age of 19.

    3,000 people including holidaymakers were in the building at the time.

    A petition has been set up calling for the government to turn the site into a commemorative garden to provide a place to reflect and celebrate the lives of those who died and who were injured.
