The Department of Infrastructure says it doesn't need to register its webcams with the Isle of Man Information Commissioner - because the organisation is already registered.
A Freedom of Information request to the department asked for proof the CCTV cameras at the Bungalow, harbours, and Douglas Promenade are registered.
In its response, the DOI says it is already registered as a data controller and so doesn't need to register the cameras.
It also says the cameras operate at low resolutions to avoid identifying individuals and only stores footage for a short period of time.
