The government is urging pet-owners travelling to Northern Ireland this summer to read up on new rules.
Checks will be carried out at Northern Irish ports on Animal Health Certificates, given by vets for each journey.
The changes are part of a post-Brexit trade framework.
Unlike people from the UK, Island residents have to follow EU rules on taking animals to Northern Ireland - such as having a European pet passport.
