    Double murderer denied parole

Douglas child murderer Peter Newbery has been told he'll stay in prison after a parole hearing turned down his bid for freedom.

In 2003, he was given a life sentence and told he'd serve at least 20 years for killing teenagers George Green and Samantha Barton, who were in care in Strang.

Last Friday, Newbery - who transferred to prison in Jurby two years ago after serving much of his sentence in the UK - asked to be paroled.

However, that application was turned down unanimously by the board.
